remembering the loved ones

of course i participated

happy dia de los muertos everyone! well, we still have two more days... but, the celebration of remembering those who have passed has already begun. i went to the hollywood cemetary the other evening with natalie and although some parts seemed more of a spectacle/parade, there were other altars that i admired. it got me thinking or at least feeling bad for not putting more effort into building my own altar dedicated to my loved ones who have passed. but better late than never though- correct? our celebration will begin tomorrow.

i think the freakiest thing we saw at hollywood cemetary was the altar for marilyn monroe. there was a woman dressed as a dead version of her. she was reciting happy birthday mr president over and over again. i must admit, it was a bit frightening- i didn't even have a desire to snap a photo of the woman.

another hidden treasure that tim and i stumbled upon is barndall art park in hollywood. who knew that there was such a peaceful park off of hollywood blvd? we had no idea.

pre cemetary celebration- natalie grubb'in on her homemade punkin pie,
her spirit guides must've blurred the photo

dedicated to the women of juarez at hollywood cemetary

the day began at barnsdall art park in hollywood
