just received an email from [tita] Junie.
she's in japan with ros right now and will soon be heading for a year long journey in india.
junie is the big sister that i never had. my mom's youngest sister who is only four (4) years older than i. i think, in the same fashion that i influence my younger siblings, i look up to junie with the same admiration. truthfully, i believe junie was my primary source of influence and inspiration for wanting to pursue the art of film as a life/career choice. when she was obtaining her degree in photography, i remember junie mentioning "film school." at the time, i had no idea that such an educational institute existed. that was freshman year of high school when junie introduced me to this devilish option of film school. proceeding this introduction, out went the ridiculous concept that mia would pursue a career in the sciences.
fast forward thirteen (13) years later...i'm residing in LA working amongst the hollyweirdos and junie's embarking on a life-changing trip. i'm nerdily excited that junie's started a travel blog (see my links to the right) as i've always been influenced by her writing as well.
come to think of it, junie has influenced me in more ways than i realize-- with film, documentaries, politics, writing, leadership approaches, desire to learn more languages, with my own spiritual growth and more...
it shall be an exciting journey for the both of us within the next year...at least that's what my guides are hinting to me.
