lately, the mind has been attracting some uber sensitive souls. i'm not one to talk with my closeted sensitive ass. obviously, this brain is not (at all) an expert on relating to the experiences that are shared. really, all that can be spoken are informed (or semi-informed) opinions which, depending on the receiver, can be viewed as being "judgmental."

speaking of, the whole "no worries"/ "don't judge" epidemic of our generation is now coming to heads with human nature. there are several wars occurring around the world and we have enough data/research on numerous subject matters to be able to judge (aka share an informed opinion.) so as current events progress, as sensitive homies find themselves in crossroads situations, my (very generalized) hypothesis is that the "no worries/don't judge" slanguage is slowly becoming outdated. people are dying around the world on a daily basis, so YES, we should be worried. selfish acts by public institutions will continuously occur, so YES, we should share our informed opinions (aka "judge.")

when the sensitive souls speak their mind, there are now a variety of ways to find therapeutic solutions. most recently, one that seems to be working with the homies are various forms of visual therapy. soul collaging is a technique that my Tita Junie (who is a life coach/healer) recently introduced me to. just like different self-help books encourage folks to create a "vision board" in regards to goal setting; soul collaging implements some of these same principles. the idea is to create visuals that will deepen your personal understanding of a specific subject matter; an issue that is comforting or close to the heart; or an issue you are trying to confront from your past or present.

i.e. what images give you peace, comfort, pleasure?
i.e. what images remind you of past grievances, discomfort, or past conflict?

while in the process of soul collaging, you may find your mind and body becoming more at peace, similar to the affects of meditating or receiving a massage.

the works above are by sister Aimee Espiritu. her pieces have brought soul collaging to a different level where she's implemented historical context of Filipino history with her own personal experiences. congrats to miss espiritu for her upcoming exhibition at the Performing Diaspora Festival as her works will be displayed at the CounterPULSE gallery in San Francisco throughout the month of November. more information about the gallery can be found here.

as always, there is no concrete conclusion to this particular blog entry.
so feel free to judge me. really, it's for my own good :-)
