cliffnotes part i. summer beginnings.

i f*cking LOVE summertime.

the energy is different and my
creative juices are flowing in the right direction (at least i hope they are)...
and is it just me; or does the introduction to summer create this
uncontrollable partying/bullsh*t/partying/bullsh*t
atmosphere?

unpredictable.
expect the unexpected.
this is how i would describe the past month and a half or so leading up to summer solstice. but i can't complain because i'm somewhat addicted to expecting the unexpected.

(The Narra Group [minus maite] at the VC Film Fest kick-off reception)

(The Narra Group: retreat)

i think our pre summer jump start was our screening of our work in progress cut of the malaysia documentary at the vc film fest. the screening became the catalyst of definitions being formed within The Narra Group team; our filmmaking goals & mission; and the action plans to our strategic plan.

(gregorio and i fucking around at the puppet master's house)

(the puppet master's house & her supplies)

so part 2 of expecting the unexpected= gregory and i finding ourselves at the house of a real life puppet master/maker/creator. i guess i should be more clear being that i use the term 'puppet master' (aka the art of manipulation) so loosly these days. but i found myself one day helping gregorio out with one of his theater company's plays. thus, leading me to the house of a puppeteer. yes, this homegirl created puppets for a living. and on the real, i have a new resepct for this occupation.

discovering the art & (some) techniques of a working puppeteer was semi enlightening. homegirl's work was good; detailed; & methodical. once walking into her home, my initial reaction was similar to when i found out that there are visual artists out there who make living as collagists (&/or attempt to)...

there's a part tres y quatro, etc. of these summertime cliffnotes...
but imma chill right now- it's fuckin' summer.
