factors beyond the war of the roses

[i want to shoot a flick that has this exact same texture...but can you imagine, there's a lot of the world that's looking just like this right now.]

[born.day.surprises.]

[at a meeting at Inc Magazine the other day & it overlooked the new World Trade Center being built (to the right) and the old twin towers footprints below...trippy]

[overt messages everywhere]

[visually unequitable]

[what's at the end of your cerebral high way?]

[if only the world was aware of this fact.]

[unlikely neighbors]

diffused doctrines

the brain hasn't found the right words to express what's really going on right now. a whollota the fellow generation x'rs ('70-'79'rs specifically) are going through some major life transitions/epiphanies. meanwhile, the head is walking that fine line of being (simultaneously) utterly grateful and semi-annoyed by 80's babies. as in, i appreciate the smarts but not the cockiness. or i don't believe in texting someone when you have a major favor to ask. some things just deserve an old fashion phone call.

all the while, the mind/body is regulating it's digital intake. phone off, book open. computer off, notebook and pen on. SLR off, 35 mm on. but then who can really avoid their digital addictions? they're necessities (as we like to tell ourselves).

the words digress.

the ears have been hearing the phrase "it's not that deep" a lot lately. that phrase goes into the bucket of "everything happens for a reason"... phrases that make people feel better when the source of their prior thought/statement/action isn't truly recognized/identified. it's not that deep (to you) because (it's okay to admit) that you're just not that deep. and "everything happens for a reason" - can we just eradicate that phrase all together? it's played out.

bicoastal disorder

this east/west coast living sounds 'ideal' in theory but can start to take it's toll. just when the mind is getting settled, it's as if the body needs to head back to the other side again... and the idea of being in 1 city 100% of the time just doesn't feel right either. someone shoot the spoiled chick with bicoastal blues, por favor.

arbitration nation

artists aren't taught how to negotiate well. god forbid you take your agent/manager/lawyer out of the picture and attempt to collaboratively assess in an impartial manner your damn self. "there is no concrete definition of what is fair. fair is whatever someone is willing to pay for," said the homie's pops. word. duly noted by the flaming liberal.

(advanced apologies for the snobby scatter brained thought process and this embarrassing woe me moment)

...time to feed the brain pure authenticity...

...time to recognize unclouded originality...
...time to work smarter than ever before...
...time to hop on the next plane...
...time for more sleep...

...time to shut up and be grateful...
(it always comes down to this)

good.night.
