privileged problems
(camouflaged chucks in a limo: this sums up mi vida in the past 5 months aka privileged)i'm thankful to be on a plane that just left seattle and heading back to new york. i'm thankful for being able to critically think about how to effectively communicate with folks i'm collaborating with. i'm thankful that i've been on airplanes more than cars within the past 5 months. i'm thankful for music. i'm thankful for the random genres found in my ipod. i'm thankful to recognize how to become more disciplined when placed within intimate environments with men i once found attractive and now i'd like to sustain a purely platonic friendship with. i'm thankful for privileged decisions i have to make on the professional end. i'm thankful that filmmaking is a part of my life and how it's like a child i birthed and something that will always be a part of me. i'm thankful for the unique lifestyle that i lead. i'm thankful to be aware of how i'm capable of doing anything i really put my mind, heart and actions to. i'm thankful for how amazing the west coast is. i'm thankful to be able to witness how much my hometown has evolved in the past 20 years. i'm thankful to recognize the unique offerings found within the hometown. i'm thankful for how much i enjoy documenting (writing/photography/filming). i'm thankful for books. i'm thankful that i recognize that i need to call people more often (text messages and emails just don't have the same impact). i'm thankful for how spoiled and blessed my life is. i'm thankful for my own hypocrisies and being able to recognize them. i'm thankful for recognizing the kind of person i want to be and recognizing what i need to do to become this person. i'm thankful for the solid network of folks in my life. i'm thankful for the people in my life who grew up with a strong support system and how this has affected them into becoming phenomenal human beings. i'm thankful for how relaxing it feels to watch sports. i'm thankful for how quickly i'm growing/learning. i'm thankful to have such a strong tight knit hippie/community organizing type of family. i'm thankful for my cousin sinta. i'm thankful for my brothers, sister, cousins, aunts, uncle, grandfather, nieces, nephews and godchildren. i'm thankful that many folks around me are going through some major life changes and how beautiful it is to witness. i'm thankful to know that street smarts rules all other forms of intelligence. i'm thankful to know that my new home of rest, relaxation, chillin' and happiness will continuously evolve within the next year, the next 10 years, the next 20 years and so on. i'm (kind of) thankful that my body is exhausted but my mind is awkwardly awake. i'm thankful for God. i'm thankfully sooo OVER airplanes and airports. i'm thankful that i'm exactly where i'm supposed to be at this very moment. i'm thankful for the effectiveness of meditation. i'm thankful to recognize the different between disciplined meditation and sincere, intentional prayer. i'm thankful that every person i interact with is unique and how i would be doing the interaction a disservice by putting any person into a "label", "category", or "box." i'm thankful for the different CEO's and leaders that i've met and created relationships with within the past 5 months. i'm thankful for being drawn to the unique/holistic/community driven business values that seattle has to offer. i'm thankful to spot similar business communities in new york and la and to acknowledge that these pockets are not as recognisable. i'm thankful to be confused by the fact that the older i get, the more often i have to pee. i'm thankful for the artists who have proposed collaboration opportunities. i'm thankful for the ability to say "no." i'm thankful to be able to discern through a convoluted world more quickly. i'm thankful for the moments of wackness (performed by me and others in the past). i'm thankful about how much fun soccer is. i'm thankful for my beer belly. i'm thankful that after living in new york for a year, that i've finally found a trustworthy cab service. i'm thankful to recognize how much more sensitive my body has become to climate over time. i'm thankful that i'm attempting to do the sublte "wassup" head nod to filipinas i pass by (even if i don't know them and even if they don't acknowledge me back). i'm thankful for lightening storms in the desert. i'm thankful for overcast days at the beach. i'm thankful for non-humid air near bodies of water. i'm thankful for massages. i'm thankful for the woman at the store who pointed out that i've been wearing the wrong bra size for the past 2 years. i'm thankful for difficult conversations. i'm thankful that all of these moments are just passing thoughts. i'm thankful that sleep is about to be my best friend. right. about. now.
