rediscover your (renewed) elegance

just finished this book, and the frontal lobe was happily doing cartwheels, to say the least. it's easy to make fun of the self-help book, modern hippie, semi-delusional positive thinking movement, it really is. however, when one is able to sustain the foundational values (from your core and outward), practice consistency, man-o-man!, this sh*t seriously produces favorable results. i'm currently attempting to practice the balance of awareness and consistent assured thinking. in other words, still being as conscious as possible in recognizing that we live in a super f*cked up world (& attempting to identify the sources of the f*cked-uppedness), and concurrently having supreme faith in my every day purpose and contributions.

this past week started with a strong intent: the goal of going 21 days straight without a single complaint. sounds easy, kinda...until i got to day 2 and then having to re-do day 2. but by day 4, i must say, hot damn!, retraining your brain really affects your core! by day 5 i realized that i have had one of the best weeks i've ever had within the past 5 years! you can call it coincidence if you like, but all that is known is that the universe really really took a liking to me this week, maybe because i took a liking to the universe? who knows?

but some of this week's favorable results (to name a few) included:
  • solidifying a deal that was 4 months (and indirectly 13 years) in the making.
  • winning money!
  • thinking simple thoughts like "damn, i'm hungry" and (literally) 1 minute later someone offering me a plate of food.
  • reunions with old pals
  • checking off 90% of the week's task list (believe me, this NEVER happens.)
  • a free massage (i didn't even ask!) by a licensed therapist.
  • incredible zone time with the word play (i.e. very good progress with this screenplay.)
  • waking up at 4:30am every morning without hesitation just to get sh*t done!
  • ...really, this brag list could keep going...
the funny thing about this "complaint fast" is that your thoughts are consistently negotiating and you realize how much your own inner voice has been conditioned by random sources. so instead of me making fun of the random actor who comes into my office complaining in a very 30 Rock kind of way (yes, this happens DAILY), i retrain the mind. old thought would be "what is this person's problem?! clearly, they have issues!" and now this reactionary thought has transformed to,"well, i hope their week gets better!"

amazing isn't it? this contraption we have sitting on top of our necks:
the freaking mind...what an incredible little gadget!
