taxed chronicles

so the above photo speaks wonders. anyone with a digital camera has probably taken the cliche mirror photo... but look at how this birdie is looking at him/herself- as if he/she has noticed something new about him/herself that he/she has never seen before.
my parallel: earlier this week, i had a friendly debate with a homie. the homie, without hesitation laid it on me- all my flaws. he was so frank, blunt and unapologetic in his delivery that if this conversation wasn't happening over the phone, my initial reaction probably would've been to sock the mu'fo. but this was a true homie, as true as family in revealing his observations, sighting examples and actions steps for improvement. and there it was, me looking in the mirror, like a cliche indie coming-of-age flick, the light-bulb finally went off above my head.
ii.
hurry up and wait.
since the new year began, the team and i have been running, hustling and submitting like we're competing in some unspoken filmmaker/artist Olympics. low and behold, a pitch that we submitted over a month ago has come full circle. they want us to direct it but [insert ridiculous request here.] pitch time is tomorrow. only time will tell.

props to the 'ganda.
so, i know there are myspace/facebook haters out there, but they can all suck the d*ck that i don't have. i have, most definitely, been able to use these online networking tools for the greater good vs. the surface-level trashy reputation assumed. i mean, c'mon, free/semi-universal marketing which have literally transformed income into my pocket! it doesn't get any better than that.
on the other end of the propaganda spittin' out there-- does anyone else find it funny that there are a lot (i can't give an accurate percentage) of Obama supporters who, when you ask them why they are voting for him, they can't really give a straight forward/critically thought out/articulate reason? i'm not saying i don't or do support him on his journey to the white house, but damn, can generation X/Y get their talking points on point?
iv.
uno es bueno.
right now, i am truly happily single. when i state this aloud sometimes folks seem to go deaf, only when i say that one sentence though. i've gotten the "don't worry; you'll find someone" look or the "why don't you believe in marriage?" question. whoa, whoa buddies! number one, i'm not looking. number two, can you not ask that question in such a condescending/elitist tone? number three, i'm really chillin' and enjoying myself right now. fo'real, it's not a big deal (to me, right now.)
v.
mastering the art of being happy.
word. i think i'm getting better at it every day because, to put quite simply- LIFE is so much FUN! but for those in progress, here are some positive words, "the trick is to break the patterns, to react to difficulties with new habits that provoke peaceful inner responses. practicing mindfulness, compassion, story skills, letting-go techniques and practicing
enjoyment." [-t.wilkinson.] word.
paz.
