undefining moments

(pioneer square...seatown)

instead of being your typical left wing liberal whiner, i recognize that it's the baby action steps that count towards the big picture. in other words, there are lifestyle choices that one must make beyond being aware (and thinking critically) of the dynamic events happening worldwide in an effort for positive change. baby step number one (for muah) is making the decision to take public transportation. as minor as this may sound, to a person living in LA, this is a huge shift. as inconvenient as this may also sound, it's actually nice to be at peace while commuting and my every-growing observational skills are enhancing for the better. this morning there was a freakin' peacock on the sidewalk off of Ave 42 just east of Eagle Rock Blvd- trip out! where the heck did it come from and why was it just chillin' on the pavement? ...and have you ever watched a single leaf from a palm tree fall to the ground? it's not the most entertaining visual in the world, but to have your eyes fixed on the five to six seconds before it falls to the ground, is an instant reminder of the correlation between your life, your time, and mother earth.

anyhoo, sometimes i wish my superpower was to have an internal camera that's a part of my pupil...so that ever time there is one of these random moments, i can simply blink and there, the moment is literally saved forever. recognizing the random moment, having my brain register it, grabbing my camera, adjusting the settings, shifting the composition and then clicking, is sometimes one second too late.
