senior citizen ass beating

please don't get me wrong, i feel blessed to have been raised within a culture whose regard towards the etiquette of "respecting ones' elders" is not an option, it's a way of life. god forbid i ever went off on any of my tita's (aunties) growing up (whether or not they deserved it) as my respect for most of my elders are just too high.

but maaaaaaaan, can i just tell you that the other day, i was two steps from raising up on this elder. i was so ready to punch this b*tch out. luckily, my compassion for the fact that she's an unemployed actress who is 65+ stopped me from reacting to her over-the-top elitist/rude nature. i resorted to the four agreements (thank goodness for that piece of simple literature!) and reminded myself that this woman's outrageous behavior was not a reflection of me, it was a reflection of her own insecurities.

unfortunately, my lineage of gangster mentality sporadically reveals itself (internally) whenever someone has the audacity to outwardly show disrespectful behavior (regardless of how many self-help books i'm able to quote.) the not-so-selfish conclusion is that, i should take the blame for this one. in this particular case, my customer service skills and patience level obviously needed a little fine tuning.
