hello herald

meet herald
carrying herald around new york city was like having a freakin' puppy. we were stopped so many times by strangers who pointed out his cuteness. didn't realize how much people have an affinity towards stuffed animals.

the above photos are from a new mtv piece that should be coming out shortly. this shoot was different in that 1) i had never directed a puppeteer before and 2) i had never simultaneously directed and performed as cinematographer (i've been spoiled and always hired a cinematographer)... needless to say, i learned a lot.

you live and you learn
this seems to be the ongoing theme of life, no? it's been 6 months into the gig at this spot, and to sum up the experience thus far, i feel very paint-the-fencee/wax-on-wax-off, a-la-daniel-laruso steez. where sometimes i'm in the midst of a project that seems overly tedious, only to find out a day or two later that i just learned a tremendous amount about content development and media business development.

on the other end of a stick, it's been quite a social experiment being the a) only creative at a table full of suits, b) only woman at a table of men, c) only west coaster at a table of supreme east coasters, d) only person of color at a table of anglos, e) the only person on the team that doesn't come from old money, f) the only unconventional thinker at a table full of folks that don't won't to rock the creative/content boat that's 'already working' (monetarily). i guess for moi, if i'm not constantly stepping out of the comfort zone, then i know i'm not growing.

the zones
during this repetitive action of stepping out of the comfort zone, i've gotten myself in some adventures that will have to be shared later in life. they're just too outrageous to blog about.  the surreal-ness is definitely memoir worthy.

trifecta worthy
2.5 years as a ny resident, and the trifecta is real: liking my job(s), the company i keep, and the home set up.   i sure do miss everyone out west though...

one day, the best of all worlds will collide.
i gots faith :-)
