perpendicular merits

Photobucket
(left brain, right brain by norif-1)

remember when mary j blige came out with that one album and she was happy?
and her happiness didn't sell as many records...

i get why pain sells, i really do.
at the moment though, i choose not to buy pain.
recently i've caught myself in rare moments:
observing and getting lost within the intricacies of privilege.
is this how white people feel?

in essence, i'm happy.
yes, still happy.
mi vida no es perfecta pero escojo no habitar en el dolor.

when people complain, i immediately recognize the source of their pain.
this is a developed/acquired skill (resume worthy fosho).

nothing will work, unless you do. - m.a.
it's that simple.

i know a woman, she owns two apartments in elite areas of manhattan,
she's married to the man of her dreams, she's a princess
... and she's unhappy.

i own no apartments, i'm not married,
i'm not a princess (well, subjectively speaking)
... and i'm happy.

a funny thing happens when you:
treat inspiration like food
inhale gratitude like oxygen
participate in complain-less days
identify solutions before beginning a rant.

our generation is so conditioned to trip out on sh*t,
it's comedy. all of it.
then a homie reminds you
quit trippin' out on the good sh*t.

not quite sure how long this wave will last.
but this body and brain are surfing a good one.
